Te Reo
All students have a 45 minute weekly lesson for two terms taught by a specialist teacher. The course is based around Te Aho Arataki Marau mo te Ako i Te Reo Maori – the curriculum guidelines for learning Te Reo Maori in English medium schools. A 2 year rolling curriculum is in progress and covers the cultural, social, cognitive and linguistic benefits of learning this national language. An extension group is run through the Arts Academy, taught by Ms Cotter and Mr Kershaw and is selected as a result of school wide testing; those students gaining 70% or more are eligible to apply.
