Hospitality

The Hastings Intermediate ‘Fresh Tastes’ School Food Programme is a holistic education programme which aims to influence and improve student wellbeing.
In Terms 1 -3 selected Year 8 students learn about safe food handling and catering while they study for a Hospitality Standards Industry Certificate of Achievement in food and nutrition.
In Term 4 Year 7 students get a ‘taste’ of what it is like to be in the Academy. Selected groups of talented and passionate foodies will spend two weeks in the programme – just a sample of what it means to be in a Hospitality Academy.
In 2010 the ‘Fresh Tastes’ Academy will cater for the school ball and the school production. We will have guest tutors including chefs, a butcher, a cheese maker and nutritionist and there will be the opportunity to assist in the newly opened ‘Fresh Tastes’ cafe.
